Inspirational Shutter Speed Photographs:
Top Three Photos:
I find the first image to be successful because of it's black and white intensity, dominance, and my use of my camera's fast shutter speed. I used a "clicker" that is attached to my camera to take this image. I was very pleased with how my hair completely froze during the flip in process. The second image is my little sister which is obviously representing a slow shutter speed. This image is successful to me because of it's "ghostly" appearance. I also believe that not seeing her left (our right) eye contributes to it's mysterious, haunting look. The final image I photographed was the clock in my kitchen. I thought it would be interesting to capture the little ticker in motion with a slow shutter speed on my camera. I found that it was a simple image to take and it was a unique use of my camera's slow shutter speed.
Shutter Speed Assignment:
Three Things I've Learned:
1. Within this assignment, I learned how to effectively use variations of shutter speeds (without it being a "happy accident"). I never knew that the different settings on my camera could create to so many interesting photos. It was fun working with different shutter speeds within different settings and subject matters.
2. I never knew about "panning" photography until this assignment. I find it to be very strong use of photography. Panning creates the illusion that people are actually moving with the subject matter. Not only is it an interesting aspect of photography, but it is also much simpler than it appears to be. I know now that if my shutter speed is how I exactly where I want it, the only thing I have to do is focus on my subject, and follow it.
3. Before this particular assignment, I never worked with water. I always found it to be a clear and completely boring mass of nothing. However, with the use of the fast shutter speed on my camera, I was able to experiment with a lot of water! When I work with a fast shutter speed, I found that water looks as if it is frozen in mid air! There are many props and subject matters I've used throughout photography, but I never considered water. I never realized that you could do so much, with something so simple.
